POISED TO/ FOR – o que significa?

O verbo to poise significa equilibrar, pairar, estabilizar, sustentar.

A combinação poised to + verbo ou poised for + substantivo contém o sentido estar prestes para entrar em ação.

Alguns exemplos:

Ex: Justin Timberlake and Killer fans are poised to snap up V Festival tickets

Ex: The cat is poised to jump on the mouse.

Ex: The cat stared at the mouse, poised for action.

Ex: The army was poised for battle.

Ex: The company is poised to launch its new advertising campaign
